Biographical note
Josephine Hungerford was born on October 5, 1889 to Mary (Mollie) Maclean and John Boyd Hungerford (ISU, 1877) in Columbus City, Iowa. She received her B.S. (1911) from Iowa State College (University) in economics with a minor in French. Hungerford married John Simpson Dodds (ISU, 1912) on October 9, 1913. Together they had four children: Robert Hungerford (ISU, 1937), born in 1914, John Parry (ISU, 1939) in 1917, Katherine (ISU, 1940) in 1918, and Mary Sophia (ISU, 1947) in 1925. Dodds died February 4, 1983. |
Collection description
This collection consists of Dodds' recollections of her childhood experience and fascination with Iowa State College (University)' s Old Main and Farm House buildings during the end of the nineteenth century, her alumni records, newspaper clippings about her family, and correspondence. Also included is a photograph of the author at age eleven with her three year-old brother in front of Old Main, which burned in 1900 and 1902. |
