Biographical note

Miller R. Brooks was born July 4, 1918 in Burlington, Iowa. He received a B.S. (1941) in mechanical engineering from Iowa State College (University).

Brooks served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II; he was appointed chief engineer of the USS Mercury. After the war, he became an engineer with Ingersoll-Rand (1946-1984). By the time Brooks retired, he was the chief engineer of the AXI-Compressor Division of the company. He is considered to be an innovator in the design of high-pressure turbines and large flow compressors used in chemical processing industries and refineries. In 1971, Brooks received the Distinguished Engineer Award from the Leigh Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers.

Miller R. Brooks married Mussette M. Trulock on April 28, 1943. They had three children: Peter, Susan, and Patricia. Miller Brooks passed away June 7, 2000.
