Biographical note
George T. Wills from Boone, Iowa, was born in 1855. He attended Iowa Agricultural College (Iowa State University) for four years from 1875-1878, but appears to not have graduated. He died in 1912. He and his wife, Alice, are buried in LaMoille Cemetery, Marshall County, Iowa. |
Collection description
This collection (1878 circa) contains the drawing book of Iowa State student George T. Wills. Students enrolled in the engineering curriculum at the time were required to devote a substantial amount of time to drawing, including courses in free-hand drawing; shades, shadows, and perspective; exercises in mechanical drawings; and machine drawing. The majority of the drawings in this book, approximately 40 in all, appear to be from a course Wills would have taken his junior year on shades, shadows, and perspective. |
