Historical note
Founded in 1956, the Iowa Society for the Preservation of Historic Landmarks (ISPHL) thrived until the 1980s. The ISPHL promoted research and programs focused on historical sites, buildings, and landmarks of Iowa. The group also promoted preservation of Iowa historical landmarks. These materials were the personal files of Lawton M. and Catharine K. Patten, both long-time members of ISPHL. Lawton Patten was also a member of the Department of Architecture at Iowa State University for many years. |
