Historical note
The Accounting Department at Iowa State University was created in 1980, at the same time that the Department of Industrial Administration was expanded into the School of Business Administration. The mission statement of the department is "to prepare students to pursue diverse careers in business and accounting, to conduct quality research that emphasizes the linkages among the acquisition of new knowledge, accounting education, and practice, and to engage in outreach and interaction with businesses, governmental agencies, and professional groups, consistent with the University's land grant mission." Besides offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting, the department also sponsors several outreach programs, including Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA ), and a CPA Exam review course. |
