Historical note

The First 25 Years of the Office of Biotechnology, Iowa State University, 1984-2009 (2009) was written by Walter R. Fehr, Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Life Sciences in the Department of Agronomy. He served as Director (1984-2009) of the Office of Biotechnology and Chair (1984-2009) of the Biotechnology Council. The book was edited by Glenda Webber and published by the Office of Biotechnology.

 

Collection description

The collection (1984-2009) contains a copy of the book The First 25 Years of the Office of Biotechnology, Iowa State University, 1984-2009 (in both print and on CD-ROM), photocopies of sources cited in the book, and materials used to create the appendices. Documents include copies of correspondence between Iowa State administrators and Biotechnology Council members, a directory of Iowa State faculty interested in biotechnology research, meeting minutes and notes related to the construction of the Molecular Biology Building on campus, news articles and press releases, and reports discussing research results and funding sources.

Additional copies of the book can be located by searching the library catalog (Archives call no. TP248.22 F44x 2009). The Office of Biotechnology also offered a digital version of the book in PDF format available on CD or by download from their website.
