Historical note
The Capital Improvement Advisory Committee is a standing committee, which makes recommendations to University administrators regarding the improvement to the external features of the campus. The University President appoints members to the committee. President James H. Hilton founded the Committee in 1954 as the Campus Planning Committee. Its duties were to investigate enrollment trends and foresee the expansion needs of the University. In 1963, the Committee was also given the task of hearing the space requirements of departments and making recommendations based on greatest needs. This was the Campus Planning Committee's only duty in 1965, when the long range planning for the campus was assigned to the Long Range Planning Committee (renamed Physical Facilities Committee in 1971). In 1976, the Campus Planning Committee was renamed the Capital Improvement Advisory Committee. |
