Biographical note

Margaret Morgan Hauptmann graduated from Iowa State College (University) with a B.S. (1942) in applied art. She is the granddaughter of O. H. Cessna, member of the first graduating class at Iowa State and longtime college chaplain. Margaret currently (as of 2010) resides in Salem, Ohio.

 

Collection description

The collection (1939-1950, n.d.) contains newspaper clippings, photographs, and slides of Christian Petersen, his studio, and his sculptures. A collection of loose scrapbook pages contains newspaper clippings and photographs primarily showing Petersen at work on the Conversations sculpture grouping installed in front of the Oak and Elm Residence Halls. The photographs and slides show various sculptures sitting in Petersen's studio and several show Petersen at work in the studio.
