Jules Cool (J.C.) Cunningham was born August 12, 1878 in Cedar Point, Kansas. He received a Bachelor of Science (1905) from Kansas State College (University). Cunningham was employed in commercial horticultural nurseries in Kansas and Nebraska (1905-1909). He joined the faculty at Kansas State College and served as an Assistant Professor (1909-1911). Cunningham accepted a position at Iowa State College (University) in the Department of Horticulture where he served as an Assistant Professor (1911-1915), Associate Professor (1915-1916), and Professor (1917-1948). He also worked in the Bulletin Division of the Agriculture Experiment Station (1935-1948). Cunningham was a representative on President Harding's Commission in the organization of the United States Veterans' Bureau (1919-1920). He directed the work in agriculture for disabled ex-servicemen at Iowa State College (1919-1926). J.C. Cunningham died October 23, 1948. |
This collection contains biographical information, correspondence, committee files, publications, and writings. The papers include bibliographies Cunningham compiled about swine and corn. The collection also contains information regarding corn club work and early corn shows in Iowa. |
