William Wallace Ashby was an instructor (1913-1914) in agricultural engineering at Iowa State College (University). He resigned from his position at Iowa State to accept an offer of higher pay at another school. Ashby was succeeded by E. W. Lehman. |
This collection (1910-1914) contains Ashby's scrapbook and correspondence from Professor J. B. Davidson to the Department of Agriculture regarding Ashby. The scrapbook contains 105 black and white photographs along with 2 loose photographs. The photographs include images of Iowa State student life such as the Delta Tau Delta house, social events, football games, St. Patrick's Day celebrations, the Ag Carnival, pushball games, and the marching band. The scrapbook also documents some of Ashby's professional activities and includes images of a Buckeye Traction Ditcher in use, a masonry arch constructed and tested by Ashby for his thesis, a plow he built, and road grading work on the Guthrie Center to Panora road. |
