Historical note
The Farm Land Preservation Association, Inc., was organized in 1976. The purpose of the corporation was to oppose the construction of a diagonal interstate (I-380) between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo, Iowa, in order to protect and preserve farmland. The corporation attempted to prevent the highway construction through legal action. After three years of litigation, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis gave the Iowa Department of Transportation permission to build the highway in 1979, and I-380 was completed in 1985. The corporation filed Articles of Incorporation in 1976 and a Certificate of Cancellation in 1984. The corporation is now inactive. |
