Biographical note

Michael Wilson Fox was born August 13, 1937 in Bolton, England. He attended Buxton College, Buxton Derbys, England from 1951-1957, and received a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine Degree (1962) from Royal Veterinary College, London, a Doctor of Philosophy (1967) in Medicine from University of London, and a Doctor of Science Degree (1976) in Ethology/Animal Behavior also from University of London.

Fox was employed as a Medical Research Associate at State Research Hospital, Galesburg, Illinois (1964-1967); as an Associate Professor of Psychology at Washington University, St Louis, Missouri (1967-1976); as Vice President of Bioethics of the Humane Society of the United States, Washington, DC (1976-1998) and as a Senior Scholar in Bioethics at the Humane Society of the United States, Washington, DC (1998-). He has also served as a senior advisor to the Office of the President of the Humane Society of America.

Fox is a member of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society of Animal Science, the Animal Behavior Society, the American Psychological Association, the British Veterinary Associations, The American Veterinary Medical Association, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS), and the American Veterinary Holistic Medical Association.
