The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) was
founded in 1972 to network a number of scientific societies,
corporations, trade organizations, foundations, and individuals
concerned with agriculture. With headquarters in Ames, Iowa, CAST
disseminates information to the public on the science and
technology of food and agriculture. Records include bylaws,
financial records, correspondence with member societies, news
releases, speeches, reports, photographs, board of directors and
committee minutes, subject files, and publications. Among the
topics represented in the collection are mining reclamation, water
pollution, pesticide control, nutrition, waste disposal, genetic
engineering, water quality, acid rain, land use, fertilizers, and
organic farming.
