Historical note
The League for International Food Education (L.I.F.E.) was founded in June 1968 as a consortium of seven scientific societies located in the United States (American Association of Cereal Chemists, American Chemical Society, American Institute for Nutrition, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Oil Chemists' Society, Institute of Food Technologists, and Volunteers for International Technical Assistance). The main objective of the consortium is to provide accurate information about good nutrition and food production to developing countries. Funding for the consortium comes primarily from the Office of Nutrition of the U.S. Agency for International Development. The consortium is based in Washington, D.C. |
