Historical note

Iowans for Right to Work is a voluntary, non-profit, non-political organization whose purpose is to promote an individual's right to join or not join a union group in order to obtain or keep a job. Iowans for Right to Work achieves this goal through education and promotion to oppose compulsory unionism in any form. A main platform area was their opposition of common situs picketing (also called common site picketing - picketing of an entire construction project when the grievance is against only one contractor) and agency shop (employers may hire union or non-union workers, but non-union employees must pay a union fee to cover collective bargaining costs).
