Historical note
 
The Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) is an international scientific society dedicated to the conservation and intelligent use of natural resources to grow food and fiber crops.  SSSA provides member benefits and educational opportunities through awards, certification programs, meetings, placement services, publications, and student activities.  The organization works closely with the American Society of Agronomy (ASA) and the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA).

 

Collection description
 

The collection (1969-1991, n.d.) contains records of the Soil Science Society of America.  Materials include correspondence; committee reports; meeting minutes; workshop and conference information; and a revised copy of the Society's bylaws.

The bulk of the material was donated by Dr. John Pesek, Professor of Agronomy at Iowa State University, and related to his service in SSSA, including his term as SSSA president (1985-1986).
