The IFYE Foundation of the USA, initially the International Farm Youth Exchange and later the International Four-H Youth Exchange, was founded in 1948 in order to foster increased understanding between the United States and other nations around the world. The three to six month exchange program provides 4-H alumni and other young adults interested in a rural living experience the opportunity to live with a host family in another country and take part in the family's daily activities. In 1992 the responsibilities of supporting continued funding of the organization was transferred from the National 4-H Council to the National IFYE Association. The IFYE Foundation was developed in 1997 to raise funds to finance the continued growth of IFYE Association programs. This collection includes financial reports, correspondence, and administrative records related to the IFYE Association. |
The IFYE Association of the USA, Inc., originally the International Farm Youth Exchange and later the International Four-H Youth Exchange, was founded after World War II to give young adults the opportunity to increase international understanding and cooperation. The program is a three to six month exchange program where 4-H alumni and other young adults interested in a rural living experience live with a host family in another country and take part in the family's daily activities. Originally formed under the National 4-H Foundation, in 1992/1993 the responsibilities of supporting continued funding of the organization was transferred from the National 4-H Council to the National IFYE Association. The IFYE Foundation was developed in 1997 to raise funds to finance the continued growth of IFYE Association programs. As of 2016, IFYE exchanges are conducted in collaboration with participating land-grant universities, IFYE Association of the USA, and the IFYE Foundation of the USA. |
