Abstract

Leo Thomas Webber was born June 6, 1904, to Thomas H. and Annastasia S. (Casey) Webber. He grew up in Waterloo, Iowa. Webber received B.S. (1928) in electrical engineering from Iowa State College (University). This collection contains a photograph scrapbook created by Webber while he was a student at Iowa State. The photographs show students on campus, several images of large groups of people, and a number of images of Webber and his fraternity brothers. There are also several images of the Phi Kappa fraternity house located on West Street. A brief file of biographical information gathrered by the ISU Alumni Association is also included in the collection.

 

Biographical note

Leo Thomas Webber was born June 6, 1904, to Thomas H. and Annastasia S. (Casey) Webber. He grew up in Waterloo, Iowa. Webber attended Iowa State College (University) starting in the fall of 1923. While at Iowa State, Webber was a member of Phi Kappa fraternity and Pi Epsilon Pi honor society. He also worked as a writer and editor on student publications such as the Iowa Engineer and the Bomb, Iowa State's student yearbook. He received his B.S. (1928) in electrical engineering from Iowa State. For over 30 years Webber was a professional engineer and owner of Apex Electric Co. in Waterloo, Iowa. Webber died on September 9, 1970. He and his wife, Gwen, had one daughter, Jane Ann.

 

Collection description

This collection (1919-1927 circa) contains a photograph scrapbook created by Webber while he was a student at Iowa State. The photographs show students on campus, several images of large groups of people, and a number of images of Webber and his fraternity brothers. There are also several images of the Phi Kappa fraternity house located on West Street. Several loose items are located in the front of the scrapbook, including five photographs, two negatives, and a card commemorating the ordination of Luke B. Striegel. The collection also contains a file with biographical information that was gathered by the ISU Alumni Association.
