Biographical note

Lee H. Gaudineer, Jr., was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on 10 March 1932. He received his B.A. (1957) from Grinnell College, J.D. (1958) from Drake University, and LL.M. (1967) from Missouri University.

Before serving in Iowa government, Mr. Gaudineer was both an assistant county attorney for Polk county and an assistant city attorney for the city of Des Moines. Mr. Gaudineer also served as a staff member of the legislative research bureau.

After serving one term in the House, Mr. Gaudineer was elected to the Iowa State Senate on November 8, 1966. Two years later Mr. Gaudineer won re-election. After this period Mr. Gaudineer did not seek re-election and returned to private law practice.

He currently (2007) is a member of the law firm of Gaudineer, Comito & George, L.L.P., in Des Moines, Iowa.

 

Collection description

This collection (1967-1972, undated) consists primarily of minutes dealing with committees or subcommittees on which Mr. Gaudineer served. The only personal papers of Mr. Gaudineer to be found in the collection are those dealing with a challenge by the credentials committee of the Democratic National Convention. The most extensive papers deal with state budget and finance.
