Biographical note

The son of Walter and Johanna Camp, John E. Camp was born on March 5, 1915, on a farm in Clinton County, Iowa.

Camp served in numerous public positions including membership on the Clinton County Farm Bureau Board, Republican Farm Council, and the Clinton County Board of Supervisors.

Camp served six terms in the Iowa House of Representatives. He was chair of the Appropriations Committee and a member of committees involved with state government and Iowa development.

He married Dorothy Mowat in 1938; they had one son, James. John E. Camp died May 4, 1988.

The collection (1970-1988) contains biographical information and correspondence. The correspondence is primarily letters written to Camp by his constituents with copies of his replies.
