Biographical note
George L. Scott was born on 21 July 1887 in Fayette County, Iowa, and lived his entire life in that area. He was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 1935 and served five terms. He was appointed to the Iowa Liquor Commission, but in 1953 he returned to the Iowa legislature, being elected to the Senate and served three terms there. Scott died in April 1975. |
Collection description
The collection (1960-1967, undated) primarily contains correspondence with his constituents (arranged in subject files) and also contains speeches, personal correspondence, and a letter to the editor. A few of the subject files contain copies of bills, newspaper clippings and resolutions from city or county officials. |
