Historical note
The National Agricultural Advertising and Marketing Association was organized in 1965 and officially established in July, 1966. In 1973 the National Agricultural Advertising and Marketing Association's (NAAMA) name was changed to the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA). Serving the food and fiber industries, the aims of NAMA include promoting and improving professional excellence in agri-marketing and increasing the public's knowledge of agriculture's role in the economy. NAMA is based in Overland Park, Kansas. The Iowa Chapter, based in Des Moines, was established in 1968 and is one of many regional chapters of the National Agri-Marketing Association. The Chapter is involved with a variety of activities, including organizing educational opportunities for its members, helping with Iowa Agriculture Day and working with the Iowa State University student chapter. |
Collection description
The collection (1968-1979) contains awards, by-laws, membership lists, meeting minutes, financial statements, bulletins, newsletters, officer information, chapter histories, reports and correspondence. Most of the collection contains records from the Iowa Chapter, but records from the national organization are also included. Correspondence is both between members of the association and with groups outside of NAMA. The collection also contains records concerning Iowa Agriculture Day including promotional material, publicity, lesson plans, minutes, and arrangements.
