Historical note

The Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) was organized in June 1933 in Stockholm, Sweden. The object of the group, according to their constitution, is "to promote and maintain friendly and helpful relations between the country women's and homemakers' associations of all nations, and to give any possible help in their development; to further the common interests of these organizations, in the economic, social, and cultural spheres, while avoiding political and sectarian questions of a controversial nature; and to encourage the formation of organizations working for such common interests in countries where this need has not already been met."

Application for membership is open to all associations of country women organized on a National, Provincial or State basis whose aims and objects are in harmony with those of the Association. Application may also be made by Women's Sections of men's organizations, and associations of which the majority of the members are country women. Groups of women interested in the betterment of rural life, in sympathy with the movement and not otherwise eligible for membership, may apply for enrollment as Corresponding Societies.

The group meets triennially, at a time and place to be decided by the Executive Committee. The President and Vice-Presidents are elected by the Conference. The Conference also elects six members to serve on the Executive Committee. Each Constituent organization is entitled to appoint one representative to serve on the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee conducts the business of the association between Conferences.
