Susan Carberry Drtina was born to Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Carberry in 1957 and raised in Newhall, Iowa. She joined 4-H as a member of the Eldorado - Ettes and, later, the Eldorado Early Birds in Benton County. This collection includes Drtina's 4-H record book and other memorabilia documenting her time as a member of the Eldorado Early Birds 4-H Club. The memorabilia includes ribbons, buttons, pins, and her 4-H uniform. |
Susan Carberry Drtina was born August 11, 1957, to Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Carberry. She was raised in Newhall, Benton County, Iowa, and joined 4-H as a member of the Eldorado - Ettes and, later, the Eldorado Early Birds. As a member of 4-H from 1968 through 1975, Drtina completed numerous 4-H projects including those related to home improvement, food and nutrition, clothing, child care, and leadership. She participated in and volunteered at various 4-H activities and events. During her final year in 4-H she was elected president of her club, served on the County Council, and received the Chicago trip award. Following the completion of her high school education, Drtina attended Iowa State University where she earned her B.S. (1979) in computer science. She married Gary J. Drtina and they raised two children. She currently (as of 2012) resides in Minnesota and is retired from the Target Corporation where she worked as an information technology manager. |
This collection (1968-1975) contains Susan Carberry Drtina’s 4-H records and memorabilia, including her record book, buttons, ribbons from the Benton County Fair, and her uniform. Drtina's record book contains accounts of her 4-H projects, certificates, newspaper clippings, photographs, and personal reflections on her 4-H career. The ribbons list the date they were received and the projects for which they were awarded. |
